Christmas Lunch

Today members and invited guests came along to celebrate the festive season.
Chairperson Mairi McRobert, warmly thanked everyone for coming along and introduced Reverend Pam Bellis who, after a humorous speech, said grace. Everyone then enjoyed a most delicious lunch of potato soup, Turkey with all the trimmings which was followed by the most delicious dessert of Chocolate and Irish Cream Bombe and sparkling wine flowed freely. It was finished of with tea or coffee, homemade mince pies and after eight mints. Everyone was sufficiently ‘stuffed’ afterwards. Haha. Entertainment for the afternoon was the fabulous Collette & Davy, who’ve been along to the Centre before, and once again they didn’t disappoint! Everyone was singing along and a few danced. All in all a fabulous day.
Thanks as always to the staff who make the day run so smoothly.

Pamper Afternoon

We were visited by today by Julie Reid and 10 students from John Niven Campus who kindly offered to treat us to manicures and hand massages. It was very much enjoyed by all our members, and staff!
Thank you very much for coming along and hopefully we will see you all again soon

Christmas Fair

The Day Centre hosted its very first Christmas Fair on Saturday 2nd of December, 11am until 3pm. We had 23 tables booked, selling a variety of lovely items. There were Jewellery, cards & candles, knitting and the very popular home baking! There was also a raffle table with a P&O crossing for a car and two persons as the top prize! Other prizes were, hospitality for 2 at Stair Park Football ground, children’s scooters & ride on truck, assorted small kitchen appliances, sweets, boozy gifts, prints from Steven Brown, laundry basket filled with cleaning supplies and that was just a few!
We raised just over £2100.00, which is an amazing amount for our charity funds.
A massive Thank You to everyone who, donated raffle prizes, booked a table and came along on the day.
Hopefully we will see you all again next year.
Thanks must also go to the staff who, not only worked away behind the scenes but  gave freely of their time on the day and, the members themselves, buying and selling raffle tickets. We couldn’t do this without you all.dav

On Saturday 7th October John and Margaret Ann held their annual fun golf day at Creachmore. For three years we have benefitted from this fabulous event to which we are eternally grateful. This year we have been given £2400.
Thank you to everyone who took part.

Bingo Night

Bingo Fundraiser
On Friday 6th October we had one of our now famous bingos. Around 100 people came along to enjoy the night and as always the prizes were amazing. The raffle too was great and seemed to go on for ever. Tea and coffee were served at 1/2 time, after 4 lines & houses, with gingerbread and chocolate krispie. Yum!
Once again a massive thank you to everyone who came along, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and gave of their time. We raised over £1100!!!!

Georgia with her medal

Our caretaker Georgia Walker took part in the race on Sunday 1st October. The weather wasn’t the best on the day but she bravely ran on and did the excellent time of 1:03:26!!! I’d still be running!!!
By doing this Georgia raised an amazing £300 for our centre.
Well done and a massive thank you, Georgia, from all of us.

Macmillan coffee afternoon

Coffee Afternoon
29th September ’17
It’s that time of year again… Macmillan’s massive coffee morning. We had ours this afternoon with our members and their friends and family. We had asked that everyone got out their baking bowls and bake a cake for our ‘best baker’ competition, which we thought would make a little extra if we auctioned them off after the voting. Well they rose to the occasion and the standard of the entries was very high! Double chocolate chip brownie cake, Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut sponge to name a just a few. Our own cook, Margaret had been busy in the kitchen and made a lovely cake, iced in green with ‘We Are Macmillan’ piped onto it in white icing, it was a very striking cake and well thought out. We made sure everyone there got a vote, by coming and picking their favourite cake. The out and out winner was Jessie’s butter iced chocolate sponge. Then the bidding began, at times quite competitive, with some bidders waiting until the hammer was almost down before adding another bid. Each and every one of them looked absolutely delicious but the bidders didn’t share it with us, they all took home! lol.
Fay very kindly donated some lovely raffle prizes, from pot plants, perfume, aftershave and scarves to tea trays and placemats. Oh! and as always, some sweeties and some booze.
We had 47 folks in attendance and we raised an amazing total of £455.80
As a footnote, the Coronation Day Centre is a charity too but we feel that it’s good to give back in a small way help to this other most amazing charity. Unfortunately there are not many families who have not had to deal with this horrid disease and if our little donation helps, even one of them, it’s been entirely worthwhile..
