First of all we would like to thank Lord and Lady Stair for the most generous invitation to attend the fair once again as one of the charities chosen as beneficiaries. Homestart Wigtownshire was the other.

Although the weather wasn’t the best, the fair was very well attended, both on Friday afternoon and on Saturday. The members of the Day Centre craft club have been busy these last few weeks, making tea light holders, sweetie tubs, knitted dolls clothes, toys and scarves, while the girls in the kitchen had been busy baking, gingerbread and fruit loaves. The Day Centre received, very kind donations of rather yummy, handmade chocolates and the most delicious tablet, homemade spiced fruit, white and brown yeast loaves, shortbread and fairy cakes, stars of the show were ‘melting snowman’ biscuits! the children loved them. All of these were sold on our craft and baking table. Our raffle table too, was quite a draw, and it was no wonder, with the prizes of a Stena Crossing for a car and two passengers, won by Mrs A Scott, a Kindle Fire, won by Mrs I Irvine-Watson, a luxury Christmas Food Hamper, with all the special little treats to make Christmas Day complete, won by Mr I McClintock, a Spirit Hamper, containing litre bottles of Bacardi and Russian Standard Vodka, and bottles of Whisky, Gin And Sherry, won by Mrs I Kennedy, a Microwave won by a charming lady from the Dumfries area, and many other great prizes!

As yet we do not have a final figure for the amount raised but would sincerely like to thank each and every one, who contributed to the weekend, whether it was with their time or their generosity in making crafts or baking and for coming along to the fair and supporting us by buying our goods and raffle tickets. It is all very much appreciated.

It’s early we know but…………
