Bowlers Day Out

The Coronation Day Centre has two bowling days a week. Anyone wishing to give it a try is more than welcome. Some of the regular bowlers put £1 a week into a saving account and when there is enough money gathered they arrange a trip away. Not far but out to lunch and a wee drive around the country.

Friday 18th May was the date arranged and 15 bowlers set out for Logan Botanic Gardens. The bus left the Day Centre at 11.15am and had a lovely run through the villages of Stoneykirk and Sandhead then a stop at Ardwell to stretch the legs and have a photo taken. Once back on the bus it was on to PortLoganVillage for a little look at the hotel there which is being refurbished.

At 12pm when the bowlers arrived at the gardens they gathered for another photo opportunity then went into The Potting Shed Bistro to lunch. The choice was varied, Lasagne, Chicken pie, Salads with prawn, quiche, ham and cheese. Dessert choices were apple pie, rhubarb and apple crumble and meringue with fresh fruit salad which were all served with ice cream, which was then followed by tea and coffee. The food was delightful very nicely presented and very tasty. After lunch there was the opportunity to browse through and buy some of the many beautiful items in the shop and also the plants that were for sale. Some just took the chance to sit in the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding gardens. Too soon it was time to get back to the bus for the journey home.

The bowlers would like to thank very much Caroline and the staff in the Potting Shed Bistro for their care and attention and, to mention, once again, the delicious food, and also to Chris for his brilliant driving and help.
